More FIFA

So since I started playing FIFA over the weekend, for some reason I am hooked.  I am into my second season "on loan" from Roma which is rather funny.  I was actually able to play in a friendly game before being loaned out and we won 4 - 0 and I scored two of the goals.  I figured well the team probably won't loan me out now will they?  Oh HELL yeah they did.  So I'm on a team in the Portugal league and the competition is definitely higher than my first season.  I think the one thing that has hooked me with the game is the growth opportunity that your player has.  I have noticed that my skills are increasing although I have definitely not scored as many goals this season as I did during my first season.  The first season of play I was in a Dutch league I think it was and I think my season ended with a league topping 20 goals which won me the Golden scorer award, I can't remember the exact name of the award and EA's website really SUCKS right now in trying to look at achievements in this game.  Right now I'm at the close of the second season and we are in the playoffs and have made it to the quarter finals thanks for my goal scoring so far.

So the PS4 is pretty good

So I've been playing the PS4 quite a bit since I purchased it.  This weekend I seemed to be concentrating on two games I have.  I threw FIFA 14 in over the weekend, and started a career with a new player.  I have to say that the more I played it, the more I wanted to play just to see my character grow and get better.  I used their Gameface feature to actually upload some pictures so I can see myself playing soccer again.  I have to say that this is a pretty cool thing that you can do.  I believe it's been around for a few years now, but the detail that you can get is pretty amazing now.  The one mechanic in FIFA I wish was different was that you don't start playing for a team you choose.  It appears that when you come on the scene as an up and coming 18 year old football player, the team that you pick "farms" you out to another team.  So I'm hoping after playing a season for whoever I am playing for now, will get me back onto a team that is actually good.  I haven't played a FIFA game since the original XBOX and I can't even remember what year it was that I played.  I will say that the game has definitely come a long ways from what little I remember from back in the day!

After playing quite a bit of FIFA I had to give my feet a rest and I jumped over to Assassin's Creed IV.  I have to say that the graphics on this game are still quite amazing.  I'm finally out sailing in my own ship and plundering plenty of booty to amass fame and fortune.  While it still really feels like an Assassin's Creed game with the combat and a lot of the quests you are doing, I feel like I am much more invested in my character than what I remember being in playing the first AC game.  There are so many side quests and different things to do and places to explore, I have a feeling that this game will definitely be keeping me busy for the upcoming future.

Another game down

So I was able to complete Knack today.  It was probably twice as long as Contrast and I hope to actually get some reviews written this weekend on both of the games.  After finishing Knack I finally got the time to sit down and dig my teeth into Assassin's Creed IV.  This is definitely the game I have been wanting to play, but I wanted to get the smaller easier games out of the way, so I could now concentrate on playing AC4 till the end.  Well, besides playing a game of FIFA 14 every now and then.

So far what I have played in AC4 is amazing.  The graphics on the PS4 are just downright nothing more than pure eye-candy!  I love it and so do my eyes!

More PS4......

OK, so I've had the PS4 for a few days now and I have been playing the HELL out of it.  I've already finished Contrast which was one of the free PS+ games along side Resogun.  Contrast was an interesting little puzzle/platform game with an interesting story as well as some very interesting mechanics. I would definitely say give this game a shot, it's not that long of a game and you should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.

I also started playing Knack today.  This game has been getting reviews that look like they are ALL over the place.  Some good, and some not so good.  Right now I'm a little more than a third done with the game, and so far I don't thinks it's that bad.  I have been avoiding reading any of the reviews out there and have just looked at some of the numbers.  I want to come to my own judgement on this game and while it definitely isn't a system seller, I can't say it's completely junk or broken, yet!

I've also spent a little time with FIFA 14 and Assassin's Creed IV.  Both of these games are just down right gorgeous.  I have to say, what I've seen so far in AC4 just makes me want some of these other upcoming next gen games like Watch Dogs and The Order: 1886 even more!  I mentioned a few things about this on the podcast tonight, so I won't write everything hear, but if you are playing AC4 on the PS4, just pay attention when it rains.  That's all I'm going to say about that.

So far I have to say I am really enjoying my time with the PS4.  I really wish I could convince my wife that I need to get an Xbox One for review purposes, but I know better than trying to bring yet another console into this house right now after all the money I've spent on the PS4 so far.

I'm going to start working on writing up some things I like and dislike about the PS4 and will have a list posted here in the next day or so.

Until then, keep gaming!

Happy PS4 Launch Day

So I just got done watching the All Access PS4 launch show on Spike TV.   I was hoping for a few more exclusives of some additional news but the few things that were announced were pretty cool.  One of the bigger games announced was Uncharted.  Not much was give, but I'm sure that the short video that was shown has already been picked apart by fans looking for any type of hint or spoiler as to what the game may be about.

I have my PS4 ordered through Amazon and barring that shipping goes good, I will have my system with three games tomorrow.

Until then, have a good PS4 launch day, and welcome to the next generation of gaming!

PILOT Episode of What I'm Playing Now

So Greg and I finally decided to put together a gaming podcast.  I hope eveyrone enjoys it as we have quite a few ideas for the format of a weekly show as well as putting together a website which will be coming soon!

Enjoy the show!!!!

What I'm Playing Now - Pilot Episode

PS4 Games are a GO!!

So i have my PS4 pre-ordered through Amazon.  I originally had the Watch_Dogs bundle ordered but as I'm sure most already know Watch_Dogs was DELAYED!   How or why they waited so long to announce the delay of a launch day game, I will never understand as Ubisoft made the announcement literally 30 days before launch.

So after alot of thinking I decided Assassin's Creed IV would be my launch day game.  Then all the sales buzz started happening.  I read online that Target would be offering a buy 2 get 1 free sale during the launch week of the console.  After reading some different forums it appears that some other retailers are honoring this as well.  I also read about Amazon in Germany offering a buy 2 get 1 free sale, but nothing was announced "officially" in the US until this past Sunday.  Luckily today I was able to get three games ordered from Amazon using my free trial of a Prime membership to get free two day shipping.

So let's hope that my console and three games all make it here safely on Friday.  The three games I chose were :

Assassin's Creed IV

FIFA 14

Knack

I think these are three good launch titles for next gen and with PS+ I will be able to download several other free games over the weekend.  I should have PLENTY to talk about on the next podcast which will be our actual first episode of What I'm Playing Now.

So check out my next blog post which is a link to our PILOT episode!

Here we go...........

Ok, so I decided to pull the trigger on the blog after playing around with setting this thing up.  I still have a few things I want to do on the site, but I think the blog is ready to go and I am ready to begin writing.

So what will I be discussing here?

Well, that will be decided by what I'm currently doing.  I would like to write about the different video / board games I am playing as well as what I'm doing in the world of computers.

I have been working in the IT industry for well over 15 years now and even though neither of my degrees are IT related, computers have been more than a hobby for me since I first started using them.  I remember the first computer that I put together was at my grade school right after I had graduated from the 8th grade and was getting ready to enter high school.  The school had obtained an Apple IIe and needed someone to set it up.  It was a catholic school and none of the nun's or teachers were familiar with computers.  I had already been using several different computers by this time so my parents offered up my assistance and I went in one weekend during the summer to sit down and start setting the computer up.  I had never used an Apple computer before, nor had I ever opened up a computer to add components to one.  But after working on this little project, I knew that this was something I really enjoyed doing and it would be what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
